Target Chronic Injuries, Reduce Localised Pain, & Promote Tissue Regeneration.
Radial shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), is a safe and non-invasive intervention to stimulate healing and promote recovery in relation to musculoskeletal and orthopaedic dysfunction,
The clinically proven method involves the transmittance of low energy acoustic sound waves into targeted areas of the body using gel to facilitate the transmission of sound waves. The shockwave treatment duration can vary between 15 to 30 minutes and the ultimate aims are to accelerate healing by enhancing blood circulation, triggering the body’s response to inflammation and promoting soft-tissue regeneration. Following the treatment and within the same session, further manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation may be implemented to advance recovery and strengthen.
Our team recommends radial shockwave therapy for various types of stubborn injuries, chronic pain and as part of rehabilitation for common chronic conditions including tendinopathies, muscle strains, ligament sprains and bone stress injuries. It may also provide relief for additional diagnoses including plantar fasciitis, calcifications and lateral epicondylitis (tennis & golfers’ elbow).
Shockwave therapy is recommended by many orthopaedic and sports medicine consultants and it is used within professional sports at all levels including the elite.
G4 Physiotherapy & Fitness provide shockwave therapy at both of our Didsbury and Wilmslow clinics and the treatment sessions are delivered by our highly-skilled chartered physiotherapists and sports rehabilitators. A course of treatment is recommended with each shockwave session taking place every 5-7 days where possible to achieve the desired effect.
