What’s on This Weekend: Ironman UK 2015

Ironman UK 2015

It’s nearly upon us once again! Ironman UK returns to the north of England this weekend. This is the 11th year it has been on the Ironman European Circuit. It is a picturesque but well know to be a brutally hilly course.

We know that many of our clients have been training hard for this event and, make no mistake, Ironman is tough and you may not smile all through the day. But remember why you’re doing it: because you love it and because of all those hours of training that you have put yourself (and your loved ones) through. However hard you’re pushing, savour the experience. If it is your first Ironman, be organised, stick to your plan – don’t go too fast! Have a look at our blog Top Tips on the Day for Your First Triathlon to refresh your memory about good ideas for the day – even if it is your 654th triathlon, there may be something you haven’t thought of!

The Ironman is a great event to take part in or spectate at. The race starts with two loops of the beautiful Pennington Flash for the 2.4 mile swim and the bike course is 112 miles over two laps with 1,270 m of climbing. The run is a full marathon of 26.2 miles which also has 1611 ft of climbing over the whole of the run course. This is not one for the faint-hearted! The crowd last year gave the event a fantastic atmosphere right around the run course and right to the very end, even for those runners still going at over twelve hours.

We would like to wish all those taking part the very best of luck, and hope that it is not as hot as it was in 2014……

Please contact the Didsbury (Manchester) clinic for any further advice or information regarding our services. It should be a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you on the day! We are offering 10% discount on all physiotherapy and sports massage to those taking part.
