The Color Run
This weekend in Manchester will be a very bright one, whatever the weather holds, for those taking part in the “The Color Run” (it’s an American concept, starting over there in 2011) at the Etihad Stadium. Runners run “the Happiest 5km on the Planet” and have to stick to only two rules: wear white at the starting line and finish powdered in colour. It is an un-timed race in which thousands of runners are doused from head to toe in different colours at each kilometer. It is an inclusive, fun event with over half of the participants being first-time 5 km runners, who are able to walk or run as much as they like.
Blackpool Hilton Half Marathon
If you fancy going to the coast this weekend, then the Blackpool half marathon could be for you (entries can be made on the day). The event has runners running along the Promenades of Blackpool between North Pier and Little Bispham, looking out over the Irish sea.
Mersey Tri Children’s Triathlon
Once you have completed your run in the morning, why not take the kids over to the Wirral, which will host a whole afternoon of children’s triathlon races of various distances. Those aged from 8 to 19 can take part in their age group races, with the swim being in a pool rather than in open water.
If the weather is hot, don’t forget to read our blog on exercising in the sun.
Or, for those of you who prefer to take a more relaxed approach to their Sundays, there is also Wimbledon on the television.
If you are taking part in any events at the weekend, good luck and please don’t hesitate to contact us at G4 Physiotherapy and Fitness on 0161 4455133 or email admin@g4physio.co.uk for a post race massage, or to check out any niggles or injuries you may have picked up on the way.
