The Great North Run and a Classic Century

On Sunday, the iconic North East’s Great North Run will take place. Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne, the 13.1 mile route takes runners through the city centre towards the River Tyne where thousands of people will cross over the Tyne Bridge, where the Red Arrows will be passing overhead. From there, runners will travel through Gateshead while being entertained many bands as they go. The route, lined by thousands of supporters, leads runners to South Shields where at the top of Prince Edward Road the view of the sea is said to be one of the most welcoming sights along the whole course.

G4 Physiotherapy & Fitness is offering all clients taking part in the Great North Run a 10% discount on sports massages. Contact us for an appointment.

Closer to home, there is a fantastic sportive for those who prefer cycling. Last year around 3000 riders took part in Manchester’s ‘Century’ ride – a 100 mile or 100 km route along picturesque country lanes which meander through the Cheshire countryside. All funds raised goes to the local Christie Hospital, which is a place close to many people’s hearts in the North West.

Starting at Wythenshawe Park, Manchester, the route heads first to Northwich, through Delamere Forest and then to Nantwich, which is the half way point for the 100 mile ride, for lunch. The route then heads back through Middlewich and Wilmslow. The ride finishes in Wythenshawe and is sure to have great crowds of supporters as in previous years. The 100 mile route has 3185ft of climbing so the cheers and applause from friends and family will certainly be welcome!

We would like to wish all those taking part good luck and hope that the weather stays fine and dry. Why not treat yourselves to a post-event sports massage? Contact us to book an appointment or call 0161 445 5133.
