There were some short sharp road races on Sunday in the North West, a bit like the downpours, but more fun.
There was the ‘We Love Manchester 10 k’ (or City of Manchester 10k run as it may be better known as) on Sunday, which saw around 3,000 runners, ranging in all ages and abilities, starting and finishing at the Regional Athletics Track, Sportcity, next to the Etihad Stadium. The route was on closed roads, with the first loop of around 6.5 km, before heading back into the campus for the start of a second loop and a finish on the track itself, in front of hundreds of cheering supporters.
It seems that Manchester certainly does love to run. There were also the weekly Sunday ‘Great Run Local’ 2 k and 5 k races held for all ages and abilities in parks across Manchester. There are runs starting at 9am each Sunday at Wythenshawe Park, at the athletics track, Debdale Park, at the tennis courts and Birchfields Park, at the corner of Birch Grove and Brighton Grove.
Congratulations to all our clients who took part in those events. Those of you who participated in any race at the weekend or had a long, hard training session may have, or will have tomorrow, sore legs, arms or backs. A sports massage is a great part of the recovery process; don’t forget that recovery is as important as training! This will help to reduce those aches and pains and ensure that you are refreshed to start training all over again for that next exciting event. Finally, please don’t leave any niggles or injuries in the hope that they will go away; it is always better to get them checked out as soon as possible. Our experienced physiotherapists can put your mind at rest.
