With winter coming the race season has changed its feel with lots of shorter 10 k races, off-road runs and cycles taking place across the country. Triathlon season has also ended, and duathlons now take triathlon’s place. There is the Poynton Duathlon taking place this weekend which is a mixed terrain 5km run followed by an 18km bike ride, then just to test those legs off the bike again, the race ends with a mixed terrain 5km run.
Further north and for those who enjoy a hill or two, there is the Whinlatter Off-Road Duathlon, which takes place in Whinlatter forest park in Braithewaite, Keswick. This race sees the entrants running 8 k, taking to their mountain bikes for a 16 k ride and then grabbing their muddy shoes for a final 6 k run to the finish.
Let’s hope the rain holds off for those taking part!
