It’s just over a week until the inaugural Chorlton & Sale Water Park race day, here at G4,Didsbury our Physiotherapists, Personal Trainers, Massage Therapists and Podiatrists have all been working hard to keep all our runners injury free and fit for the race.
2017 sees the introduction of a fresh trail race right on the door step of our Didsbury clinic, the day comprises a half marathon and full marathon race.
Ascent = 394ft Distance = 13.1 miles Time = 6hrs
The half marathon course snakes you around the River Mersey through Chorlton Nature Reserve and the forested areas of Sale Water Park. Runners start and finish near Sale Water park visitors centre off Cow Lane. Heading southeast runners set off from the lake in Sale and begin their run along the river Mersey. The course turns northwest over the footbridge at Mill Lane and heads back up the River Mersey and around Chorlton Water Park. From Chorlton Water Park the course continues west through the wooded Ivy Green area. Runners then continue next to Turn Moss playing fields and cross the River Mersey near Mosley Acre Farm. Runners then finish the course by circling around Sale Water Park. Half marathon runners will complete one lap while full marathon runners will complete two laps.
Come in to see our team in the Didsbury clinic for a Sports Massage – a good deep tissue massage between 3-7 days prior to the race is a great way to have any trigger points and tension worked out of your legs, glutes and lower back. A light massage the day before is also a great way to get your body feeling fresh and light along with relaxing any pre-race nerves.
With any massage, even a relaxing Swedish massage there’s further benefit of blood and oxygen running through the body, breaking up any adhesions through the muscles and flushing out toxins.
If you have any injury concerns, would like to book in for an appointment or would like advice about your training please feel free to contact the clinic on 0161 445 5133 or email admin@g4physio.co.uk
Good luck to all our clients running in Sunday’s Races!
