Podiatry is the modern term for ‘Chiropody’. Our podiatrists and foot-health practitioners at G4 are experts in treating all conditions affecting the lower limb and foot and we can treat everyone from children to the elderly, all levels of athletes and to those who struggle looking after and physically checking their own feet.
During your appointment, the podiatrist or foot-health practitioner will carry out a thorough examination of your feet to assess the circulation, nerves and range of motion in the joints. A detailed subjective history will be taken to recognise your needs and we will diagnose any problems and come up with an effective treatment strategy to help cure and relieve your symptoms.
Such common problems and symptoms we treat are:
- Dermatological problems such as athlete's foot
- Thickened toenails
- In-growing toenails
- Fungal nails
- Nail cutting
- Cracked heels
- Hammer toes
- Morton’s neuroma
- Blisters and other wounds on the foot
- Diabetic and Rheumatic feet
All new clients require an initial assessment whereby our podiatry and foot-health team will conduct an assessment and perform relevant treatment as required. Follow up appointments may be recommended to help maintain healthy feet and alleviate any symptoms.
All treatments at G4 are based upon the latest scientific evidence and our some of our clinicians are also qualified to administer local anaesthetics and conduct minor surgery for the treatment of ingrowing toenails and verruca to ease the pain and provide symptomatic relief when needed.
‘In-growing toenails’ can be treated with simple treatments or by a simple procedure under local anaesthetic to allow removal of the irritable nail. For more extensive cases, nail surgery can be performed. Such treatment may entail single nail surgery and treatment is normally followed up with routine check-ups and dressing appointments lasting.
‘Verrucas’ are treated at the clinic using various methods dependent upon each individual case. Relevant advice and education is also given to assist with management of the condition and also to help prevent reoccurrence.
When required, we can also refer you to our specialist in-house Sports Podiatrist if we believe you would benefit from custom made orthotic devices to alleviate your pain.
