Sports & Acute Injury Clinic
G4 provides an emergency physiotherapy service, weekend and same-day physiotherapy appointments:
- Pre-sports treatment (e.g. massage & taping) to assist with the prevention of injuries and maximise performance
- Immediate treatment for acute injuries sustained to prevent further injuries and promote recovery
- Specialist advice to aid your recovery to allow for a more successful prognosis and efficient return to your favourite sports and activities without delay
Injuries such as a sprained ankle/wrist, a twisted knee, acute neck/shoulder pain, low back pain and nerve pain will benefit from the emergency physiotherapy service to help control the initial inflammation, reduce pain and aid mobility. Anti-inflammatory treatment will reduce swelling and bleeding within damaged tissues to reduce the onset of oedema, haematomas (bruising) and contusions.
An accurate diagnosis will be given along with specialist advice to assist with the management of the problem. Immediate post-injury physiotherapy may include anti-inflammatory modalities (e.g. ice & compression) and joint stabilisation techniques (e.g. strapping) to help control pain and restore function.
Progressive stretching, strengthening and proprioceptive exercises will be shown at an early stage to aid rehabilitation and recovery.
If further investigations or onward referrals are deemed necessary, G4 can advise and assist with urgent X-rays, MRI scans and Ultrasound scans that may be beneficial to investigate the extent of the injury.
