This year’s Wimbleball 70.3 UK Ironman event (16th June 2013) brought together some of the most elite tri-athletes competing in the region of the Exmoor National Park. This was Wimbleball Lake’s 8th year of hosting the event and has developed a reputation as one of the most picturesque and challenging courses in the global Ironman calendar.
G4 supported clients and other competitors at both age-group and professional level for one of the hardest courses worldwide.
Professional competitor number 44 was Amy Forshaw who raced in last year’s Ironman 70.3 in Wimbleball and won her age group. She reported that hills are one of her main strengths and this course was therefore well suited for her. Other links and clients from ‘G4 Physiotherapy & Fitness’ who also competed including Medics from the British Army and soldiers from the Royal Marines who know myself (Glyn Forshaw) well from my days serving globally around the world.
Amy produced one of her best swims to date but felt that she could have done better on her bike. However, she produced a stunning 13.1 mile run to storm past other competitors and pip 4th spot with an excellent finishing time of 5 hours & 12 minutes!
The weather was typically British – wet and miserable! Finishing the race was a massive achievement for everybody who competed and we would like to thank clients (Didsbury & Manchester), friends & family for their support and assistance on the day and the weeks leading up to the race.
Well done all!
