4th August brought the Ironman UK to Bolton for the fifth time and as always, produced some fantastic performances throughout.
The race began at 6am with a 2.4 mile (3.86km) lake swim in Pennington Flash. Following transition one, cyclists embarked on a 112 mile (180.25km) three-loop journey from Pennington Flash and continued cycling throughout Lancashire’s remarkable undulating countryside. The 26.2 mile (42.2km) marathon run commenced at transition two from Rivington and continued through the town of Bolton in which athletes lapped three times prior to finishing in Victoria Square.
The G4 team were proud to support competitors in this year’s UK Ironman following continuous physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage and personal training that had been conducted over the course of the year to assist with their associated injuries, recovery and physical fitness.
Dan Halksworth and Lucy Gossage were the male and female winners with finishing times of 8hrs 45mins 48secs and 9hrs 29mins 12sec respectively.
G4’s supported professional triathlete Amy Forshaw throughout her training and she produced a fantastic performance in her first full Ironman following a successful career in Ironman 70.3 events around the globe. Amy took the race very positively and powered through to finishing third with an ultimate place on the podium.
