On 11th June 2014, over 100 injured Royal Marines, Army and Navy military personnel (& veterans) competed in a rehabilitation triathlon at Commando Training Centre Royal Marines in Lympstone. Other forces that raced included soldiers from the United States Marine Corps and from the Royal Netherlands Marines Corps.
The clinic’s lead clinician, Glyn Forshaw, was one of many physical training instructors assisting with the successful smooth running of the day and hospitality to all those competing.
The event turned out to be a very successful occasion with a number of high profile visitors attending to support the soldiers and associated military charities. Such visitors included HRH Prince Harry who kindly spent a lot of time speaking to soldiers who have been unfortunate to have sustained injuries in both in the UK and overseas on operational duties.
The day was supported by ‘Help for Heroes’ and the ‘Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund’ (RMCTF). The RMCFT is a charity that has been set up in aid to raise money and funding for serving and retired Royal Marines and their dependants. The charity is governed by serving and retired Royal Marines who ensure that all kind donations and contributions are used in the most beneficial way to help the Royal Marines family.
The RMFCT have set a challenge of raising £6,000,000 by 2014 to denote the 350th anniversary of the Royal Marines.
If you would like further information on the charity or would like to voluntary contribute to the RMCFT please feel free to contact the G4 clinic or visit http://www.rmctf.org.uk/
